Childhood Trauma (ACES) Workshop

"The Lifelong Effects of Childhood Trauma" -  Tues. April 23  at Baldwin Library

Groundbreaking research shows how negative events early in our lives can impact us and the people we know. These events can include abuse, neglect, addiction, divorce, death, poverty, and more.   Special guest Betsy Byker will help us understand how early childhood trauma or negative events can affect a person's physical and mental health into their adult years.  We can learn how to recognize the negative effects and build resilience through awareness and support.  Then we can interact better with others in our communities.  Sponsored by the Mental Health Task Force of Polk County through a grant from United Way, the event is free and open to the public.

If you want to learn more about yourself, family, co-workers, customers, or anyone you interact with in public, you are invited.  Join us at 6:30 pm on Tues. April 23rd, at the Baldwin Library in the Municipal Building at 400 Cedar St., Baldwin (an accessible building.)  Refreshments will be provided.   If you can sign up by phone or e-mail it would help us plan, but come at the last minute
if you are able.         715-684-3813              baldwinlibrary@baldwinlibrary.org

Betsy Byker is an experienced workshop leader on the topic of ACES (adverse childhood experiences). She is trained in the latest scientific studies but able to explain the topic in a very understandable way through lots of real-life examples about children and adults.    She has worked with the Family Resources Center - St. Croix Valley in Baldwin and now has a company called Essential Connections for Families.   Accommodations can be made to help your participation if you let us know ahead.
