"Everything Laura Ingalls Left Out of Her Novels" - Monday, May 14, 7:00 pm Many of us grew up reading the Little House books. They gave a child’s perspective of the wonders of making a homestead in pioneer days and building a town out of a vast prairie. But the adults in the story had a harder time than little Laura always knew about and it wasn’t always sunshine and square dances. Hudson author Shelly Tougas has researched the behind-the-scenes activities of that place and time and has some humorous and interesting stories to tell, including a serial killer passing through Walnut Grove! Shelley has also written a book that recently won the Wisconsin Children’s Literacy Award, “Laura Ingalls is Ruining My Life, enjoyed by middle schoolers through adults. She will be happy to sign copies that night. The talk is designed for adults and older youth more than young children.
